Описание вакансии

Job Overview

AIST - American International School of Tashkent is seeking an innovative, tech-savvy, and forward-thinking IT and Computer Science Teacher (Middle / High School) to join our secondary faculty. The ideal candidate will inspire students to move from being passive consumers of technology to becoming active creators, programmers, and problem-solvers. You will be responsible for delivering a high-quality, project-based curriculum (aligned with American ISTE standards, AP Computer Science, or IB Design/Computer Science) that covers computational thinking, software development, web technologies, cybersecurity, and data literacy.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Curriculum, Planning & Instruction

  • Computational Thinking: Design and implement hands-on units that teach foundational logic, problem-solving, and algorithmic design using block-based coding (e.g., Scratch) for lower grades and text-based coding (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript) for upper grades.
  • Digital Citizenship: Instruct students on media literacy, digital footprints, online safety, and the ethical implications of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI).
  • Project-Based Learning (PBL): Guide students through the full design cycle—from brainstorming and prototyping to programming, testing, and debugging real-world software or web applications.
  • Differentiated Tech Instruction: Adapt lessons to accommodate a wide spectrum of prior technical experience and language fluencies, ensuring all students are appropriately supported and challenged.

2. Lab Management & Assessment

  • Safe & Productive Environment: Manage the computer lab or collaborative workspace effectively, ensuring students use hardware, software, and school networks responsibly and ethically.
  • Authentic Assessment: Evaluate student progress through dynamic portfolios, coding projects, software builds, and presentation-based assessments alongside traditional technical tests.
  • Tool Curation: Stay up-to-date with emerging educational technologies and select the best software platforms, code repositories, and IDEs (Integrated Development Environments) to optimize student learning.

3. Whole-School Tech Leadership & Community Contribution

  • Cross-Curricular EdTech Support: Collaborate with colleagues in humanities, sciences, and arts to help them integrate digital literacy and multimedia workflows into their own subjects.
  • Co-Curricular Enrichment: Actively sponsor after-school tech initiatives, such as Robotics Clubs, Coding Tournaments, Girls Who Code chapters, or eSports leagues.
  • Professional Growth: Participate in regular faculty meetings, professional learning communities (PLCs), and international accreditation reviews.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or IT Education. A valid teaching license or credential is required for international status.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of successful IT/Computer Science teaching experience at the secondary level, preferably within an American curriculum, AP, or International Baccalaureate (IB) framework.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in at least one major programming language (Python, Java, or C++ preferred) and web development technologies (HTML/CSS).
    • Familiarity with robotics platforms (e.g., VEX, LEGO Mindstorms) or physical computing (Arduino, Raspberry Pi) is highly desirable.
  • Core Skills:
    • Near-native or native English language proficiency (written and spoken) to clearly articulate complex technical logic.
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Attributes: Innovative, adaptable, collaborative, and deeply passionate about keeping pace with rapid shifts in global technology.
