Lawyer

Responsibilities:

• Provide legal advisory services on the laws of Uzbekistan to Chinese-invested enterprises and international clients, covering areas including but not limited to corporate law, foreign investment, employment law, contract law, taxation, and regulatory compliance.
• Assist in drafting, reviewing, and revising legal documents in English, Chinese, and Russian, including commercial contracts, legal opinions, due diligence reports, legal memoranda, and other transactional documents.
• Conduct legal research and monitor developments in the laws, regulations, and government policies of Uzbekistan, and prepare legal research reports and client updates.
• Assist in advising on foreign direct investment (FDI), company incorporation, licensing and regulatory approvals, engineering and construction projects (including EPC/FIDIC contracts), and cross-border trade matters.
• Assist in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), project financing, dispute resolution, arbitration, and other cross-border transactions and legal proceedings.
• Liaise and coordinate with government authorities, local partner law firms, clients, and other relevant stakeholders.
• Perform other legal assignments delegated by lawyers from the China offices.

Requirements:

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree or above in Law (LL.B., LL.M., or equivalent) from a reputable law school in Uzbekistan or abroad.
• One to three years of experience in a law firm or an in-house legal department is preferred. Outstanding recent law graduates are also encouraged to apply.

Professional Competencies

• Solid knowledge of the commercial laws of Uzbekistan, including corporate law, civil law, employment law, foreign investment law, and other related areas.
• Strong legal research, legal analysis, and legal drafting skills.
• Ability to independently conduct contract reviews, legal research, and provide basic legal advice.
• Experience in cross-border investment, international construction projects, energy, infrastructure, or related sectors is preferred.

Language Requirements

• Proficiency in both English and Russian, with the ability to use them as working languages.
